Sculptural concrete
Notting Hill, London
The garden was created as an urban oasis for a hard-working couple. Changes of level have been addressed by a series of poured concrete steps and platforms, for informal seating and entertaining. An L-shaped mirror pool defines the entrance to the house and provides a strong focus to the central area of the garden. Around the pool, planting is desert-like and architectural. This gradually gives way to a softer, wilder look towards the rear of the garden. Designed in collaboration with Helen Tindale.
