garden of rooms, norfolk
Apart from some trees on the perimeter and and one mature yew hedge ‘floating’ in the space, this country garden was a blank slate. The hedge was not well orientated but as the clients were keen to preserve it the garden was designed around it, with additional yew hedging added perpendicular to the original to create a new pool terrace. Piercing the original hedge to create walkways through the garden allowed for much better circulation. The garden also features an ironwork ambulatory, a nut walk with wildflower planting below, and vistas through an Acer globosum avenue to fields beyond.
