family GARDEN, CHISWICK

This long thin garden was designed to flow naturally from a new extension - out via a series of stepping stones set in Corsican mint and past a gently bubbling Corten pool into the dining and living area. Over the dining table a simple aluminium arbour clad with evergreen jasmine, echoes precisely the framing of the extension.

Beyond the paved terrace further stepping stones lead through a mown lawn through a gap in the yew hedge to the ‘wild’ garden. Much of this area has been raised, creating narrow kebony walkways through a crab apple grove, underplanted with dwarf Miscanthus grass, white alliums and Sanguisorba. In the centre is a sunken area with campfire and tucked away, surrounded by grasses, a trampoline set into the ground. Further down the garden, there are vegetable growing planters, and a games area with golf holes and table tennis facilities. There’s something for everyone here!
